Most people capture famous landmarks on their cameras, but Roo Irvine meets a man who makes them out of matchsticks! Michael Tolley measures the dimensions of Carlisle’s buildings by stepping them out. Then, he recreates them in miniature, using hundreds of matchsticks. So far, he has made 87 models, including a replica of an entire street. Over the border in Kelso, can the teams strike any good deals when they go bargain-hunting with experts David Harper and Irita Marriott? The blues are twin sisters Wendy and Gayle, although they weren’t born on the same day! Motorcycling fan Wendy is quick to spot a vintage oil can, while Gayle takes a shine to a white metal pin cushion. Over with the reds, friends Sue and (another) Wendy hope to get a pair of Victorian grape scissors for a snip. At Paul Laidlaw’s auction, the bids come in thick and fast, and at the end, one bonus buy sets hearts pounding.

Season 73, Episode 30 – “Heanor 16”
The man who built a cinema at the bottom of his garden – it sounds like a Hollywood plot, but it’s true! Bus driver Andy Jones spent five years and more than £70,000 building the 30-seat movie theatre in Stoke-on-Trent. Andy began salvaging items from old cinemas when he was a boy, and today he hosts charity movie nights for his local community.

Is there a Hollywood-style ending for either team in this episode? It’s sisters versus sisters at an antiques centre in Derbyshire. Karen and Claire are in red, while Sharon and Margaret are in blue. With expert Nick Hall by their side, the blues reflect on a fancy French mirror until Nick notices how modern it is. Meanwhile, the reds and Izzie Balmer ease themselves into their shop with a Glastonbury chair – but the price isn’t music to their ears.

In Derby, auctioneer James Lewis sells the teams’ items, but what will the bidders make of them?

Over with the blues, three’s a crowd as expectant mum Lucy goes shopping with dad Andrew. He quickly spots an auctioneer’s gavel, but expert John Cameron tells him to hold out for a golden one. Elsewhere, expert Irita Marriott is on the hunt for boxes as the blues hope to put a lid on their challenge. Ruling the rostrum in Lincoln is auctioneer Kirsty Pearson.

In Pembrokeshire, Christina Trevanion has a go at carving traditional Welsh love spoons, and Danny Sebastian strikes the right chord with a luthier who makes acoustic and electric guitars by hand. At the end of the episode, Eric counts down the most profitable items and reveals which team has finished at the ‘top of the tree’.

Roo Irvine is in the market town of Kelso in the Scottish Borders, with a mystery object to show to shoppers. It’s small, made of silver, and has two ebonised wooden ends – but what is it? While you figure that out, two teams are bargain-hunting at a packed antiques fair. In red are married couple and keen dancers Graeme and Jackie, who plan to groove their way to victory. Their opponents in blue are long-time friends Sue and Marion, who are both into crafting. Animals are the first things to catch the teams’ attention. At one stall, expert Irita Marriott picks out a small silver elephant for Jackie, while close by, Graeme spots a wooden model of a bull, but the pair keep mooov-ing. Meanwhile, David Harper and his blues find a bronze Romanesque tazza decorated with leopards. It’s well spotted, but the price is too high! With their shopping bags bulging with collectibles, the teams head south to Carlisle, where auctioneer Paul Laidlaw gives his all-important estimates before the bids go live and, ultimately, a winner is declared.
