Leanna visits a pond in the grounds of Castle Fraser in Aberdeenshire that’s become a haven for rare damselflies and dragonflies. Season 21, Episode 03 –
Landward explores one of the biggest threats facing Scotland’s fragile rural communities – depopulation. Over the next decade, the population of 14 Scottish rural council areas is expected to decline. The team visits the places battling the issue and meets the people fighting to reverse the trend. In north west Scotland, Anne visits the secondary school on the sharp edge of depopulation, with just 31 pupils. Rosie discovers how hard it is to find housing in popular tourist hotspots, and Dougie travels to Arran to hear about the scheme convincing doctors to settle on the island. Meanwhile, Arlene meets the campaigners who think they have some solutions.

Season 21, Episode 01 – “50th Anniversary Special”
A special episode to celebrate Landward’s 50th anniversary. Dougie takes a long walk through the landscape and through five decades of this important rural affairs series. He revisits stories from the archives, revealing huge changes in the Scottish countryside.
